It is the first time for this generation of students of the department of environmental engineering (master) who perform teaching practice in a real area where waste is treated.
During the field lecture which lasted around 3 hours, as long as their teaching hours are, they saw up close all the works of one of the largest projects in the Balkans for integrated waste management. Waste sorting shed, landfills for disposal of various waste typologies, water treatment plant, biogas capture plant, are some of the facilities for which students have received only theoretical knowledge in the auditorium. “I have been before and I know the situation as it was. I see a radical transformation. I like the fact that it was intended for waste selection from the beginning to take waste to recycling, separation and special landfills for inert waste, for urban waste and above all it was a surprise that an environment has been created to give an ecological view of the area “, said the pedagogue of the Department of Environment at the Polytechnic University prof. Entela Çobani. As the students expressed, that this was the first time they saw how the waste is transported, their separation, or even the plants that have been built. “It was the first time we came here and it was as we were described in lectures and seminars,†said Kejdi Ramlikaj, master student of environment at the Polytechnic. This lecture hour will be followed by other field lessons, for which the IEBV company, based on the agreement it has with this university, will continue to realize in the premises of Sharra.
